FACADE PANEL in fibre-reinforced concrete
Public facility saxion sion
Concept
UHPC façade panels with star-shaped perforations have been used for a public facility on the Sion plateau.
The panels measure 2 m x 3 m and have been made with polystyrene inlays. They are fixed to the framework of the building with concealed ties made of brackets and threaded rods in stainless steel.
A facility integrated into its environment: the stars of Sion
The façade is made of panels with star-shaped perforations. That original motif comes from the fragments of stone lilies – fossilised marine organisms called sea lilies or crinoid – that can be found on the site and in many places in Lorraine. These creatures have been around for over 200 million year, and live in colonies attached to the bottom of the sea.
With that repeated motif, the construction has become part of local geology and history.
